Festival Flower Crown with Artificial Blooms

Welcome back to another tutorial at the Academy of Flowers! For this demonstration, I will be sharing with you how to create a flower crown using artificial or faux flowers for a wedding, summer event or festival. It also acts as a great activity to do with family and friends during the Summer months!

Flower crowns are a popular accessory that bohemian brides and festival goers wear. The tradition of wearing flowers in your hair dates back to ancient times. They are most often created in a horseshoe or circular shape with different types of flowers and greenery. Depending on the style of the event, they can be made with dainty flowers like gypsophila, spray roses and daisies, to bigger and bolder blooms such as roses, peonies and small sunflowers in differing colours and themes. 

If you prefer, you can create this design with fresh flowers or dried flowers. The design is incredibly versatile and can be created in lots of different colours, types of flowers (or greenery) and using a base such as a hairband. If you are using fresh flowers to construct the design for an event, we would recommend making the design on the morning of the event to avoid wilting as the flowers are out of water.
