So, what is Gypsophila? Gypsophila, gyp and also known as baby’s breath is incredibly popular in the flower industry. A single stem of Gypsophila consists of a complex of branches filled with dozens of tiny white florets. Most commonly found in white; you can also source in natural pink or dyed colours. Gypsophila comes from the Greek for “gypsum-loving” in reference to the plants favoring high calcium soils. There are many types of Gypsophila available on the flower markets, small headed such as Million Stars, to large headed varieties such as Xlence or Snowball. This simply refers to the size of the head.
Gypsophila is versatile, long lasting and can be used in a multitude of different flower arrangements on its own or combined with other flowers.
