In this demonstration, our tutor will provide you with an in-depth insight into the techniques and plant materials involved in creating a pedestal arrangement. This is anaelemental skill to master that can be transferred and used within all types of floral design.
A pedestal arrangement is an incredibly popular style of arrangement. It is used for all types of events and venues. More commonly, in a corporate setting it is used to anchor the stage, guide footfall in one direction or hide anything unsightly in the venue. The cost of one arrangement is often more cost effective than having lots of smaller arrangements and easier for you as a florist or flower arranger.
This demonstration uses floral foam as the designing medium, however you can use more eco friendly sustainable mechanics such as chicken wire within the bulb bowl. You can either use anchor tape (single use plastic) to bind into the bulb bowl or twine to secure into position.
If you wish to recreate this arrangement, you will need the following:

Why would you not use the pedestal block of foam for added security in the arrangement
Hi Angela, thank you for your comment. You could certainly use a pedestal block of floral foam for the construction of this design, and if desired use chicken wire for added security. It will provide a block of floral foam rather than the graduated base using steps of foam offers. The pedestal block of foam is perfect for a 360 degree design, giving equal access to the foam the entire circumference of the arrangement. As always our suggestions are a guideline only.
